Titanium clad steel plate tube sheet bimetallic is a bimetallic composite plate made of carbon steel as the base, industrial pure titanium as the cladding, and explosive, rolling, and other methods. The base layer of titanium steel composite plate mainly meets the strength and stiffness requirements of welding structure design, while the cladding layer meets the requirements of special properties such as corrosion resistance. In this paper, the repair process of titanium layer metal of titanium clad steel plate tube sheet bimetallic is studied, and the hardness and metallographic structure of welded joints are checked to provide technical support for the repair of titanium steel composite tube sheet in the company and power plant.
2. Product Features
Titanium and titanium alloys are vulnerable to embrittlement caused by gas and other impurities. The main elements causing embrittlement of titanium and titanium alloy welded joints are oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon, etc. Titanium can react with oxygen in the air to form a dense oxide film at room temperature. It starts to absorb hydrogen at 250 ℃, oxygen at 400 ℃, nitrogen at 600 ℃, and reacts violently with hydrogen and oxygen. Clean the area to be welded with acetone before gas hole welding, and send argon for 3-5 s in advance to replace the impurity gas in the welding area; Short arc welding shall be adopted, and the arc shall not swing during welding; Stop argon for 5~8 s after welding to protect the weld from contamination. After the repair welding of the titanium layer is completed, 100% dye inspection shall be carried out for the weld according to JB/T4730, and there is no indication; then Macro inspection, hardness, and microstructure analysis shall be carried out for the welded joint.
3. FAQ
As titanium is a kind of material with good weldability but easy to be polluted, the temperature must be controlled during welding and the heat input must be small, so the welding of titanium and titanium alloys is not suitable for the welding of shielded metal arc welding and carbon dioxide gas shielded welding. It is appropriate to select argon tungsten arc welding (GTAW) with good weld formation quality to repair the titanium layer.
