After decades of research and practice by scholars, many scientific research achievements have been made in the production method of copper clad aluminum sheet/copper-steel composite material. Each process has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages and disadvantages of copper-aluminum composite plates of different processes The disadvantages are stated as follows:
1. Cold-rolled composite process (plate, strip): two metals are bonded together using polymer materials. Its advantages are: simple process, easy mass production
Its disadvantages are:
1)It is not resistant to high temperature, and the universal glue (epoxy resin) between metals cannot be heated, and the layer will be opened below 230°.
2)The glue is not uniform, and the phenomenon of bubbling and peeling is easy to occur.
3)Short life, epoxy resin is a chemical product, it will age after a period of use, and it is easy to peel off and delaminate.
4)The composite strength is low, and the product cannot be further processed by subsequent rolling, bending, cutting, stamping, etc.
2. Hot-rolled composite process (plate, strip): the surface of two metal materials is roughened, the billet is heated by an induction furnace online, and then rolled and composited through a small rolling mill (rolling mill), and the energy generated by rolling is used to convert it to make the two metals are compounded together. (This method is mainly used for composite materials between steel and steel.
Its disadvantages:
1)The bonding strength is low and cannot meet its electrical conductivity requirements
2)Can't fold right angle

3. Explosive compounding, production process: it uses explosives as energy. After the explosives between the copper plate and the aluminum plate are detonated, it will be transformed into a stable detonation through self-acceleration and will move forward at a certain speed. The detonation product collides with the aluminum plate at an angle under the action of pressure, thereby achieving a metallurgical bond between the substrate and the composite. Explosive recombination can be achieved in the anaerobic state. Can't do thin plates.
Advantage:
1)This composite method has high bonding strength, not limited to the composite between copper and aluminum, and can be arbitrarily combined between two or more metals
2)The width can be unlimited, and the ratio of copper and aluminum can be adjusted within a large range.
Disadvantage:
1)Due to the difference in the detonation position, spacing, charge form, and the propagation mode of the detonation wave, it is easy to reduce the recombination rate, it is easy to produce over-melting at the interface, and it is difficult to achieve the recombination rate and unevenness required by the technical requirements. Produces higher weld quality.
2)Flaw detection, subsequent repair welding, and milling and punching on a milling machine are required between the composite plates. The process is complicated and the cost is high, and thin plates or strips cannot be produced.
There are many production methods for metal composite plates, and they all have the main composite plates suitable for their own processes. Not all processes are suitable for copper-aluminum composite plates because each method has its advantages and disadvantages.
