1 Products Description
Titanium has high chemical activity and strong affinity with oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen in the air. Over 600 ℃, titanium begins to absorb oxygen and dissolve it into titanium. Hydrogen absorption begins above 300 ℃ and nitrogen absorption begins above 700 ℃. Oxygen and nitrogen will increase the strength and hardness of titanium and reduce its plasticity. Nitrogen has a greater impact than oxygen. Hydrogen will sharply reduce the impact toughness of weld metal, but the plasticity will decrease less, resulting in hydrogen embrittlement.
2 Cleaning and protection of titanium cladding of GR2 Titanium Clad Steel Plate for Industry
For titanium clad welds, the sources of oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen should be strictly controlled. Oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen are not only from the air, but also from other impurities that may melt into the molten pool. In addition to making the mechanical properties of titanium weld worse and reducing the corrosion resistance of the weld, these impurity elements are also the root cause of gas holes in the weld. Therefore, in the process of welding operation, the welding environment, the cleaning of the groove and the protection of the weldment are particularly important.
3Welding environment
The fume contains a large number of harmful impurities, which are easily transferred to the weld pool and weld through the environment, forming welding defects. Especially when there is iron pollution in the working area, the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the welded joint will be reduced, and welding cracks will occur in serious cases. Therefore, when welding the titanium layer, ensure that the air in this area is clean, dust-free and smoke-free. In addition, the moisture in the air has a great impact on welding, which is also one of the reasons for producing pores. The higher the relative humidity of the air, the easier it is to produce pores. When the humidity exceeds 90%, it is easy to form dense pores in the weld. According to practical experience, if the relative humidity of air is controlled below 70%, the welding porosity caused by humidity can be well controlled. The wind speed during welding shall meet the following requirements: the wind speed during electrode arc welding shall not be greater than 8ms, and the speed of argon tungsten arc welding shall not be greater than 2m/s. The ambient temperature shall not be lower than - 5 ℃, and the test plate temperature shall not be lower than 5 ℃. Protective measures shall be taken when welding in rainy and snowy weather.
4 Cleaning before welding
Titanium cladding and welding wire are easy to be contaminated, such as lubricant residue, oxide film, oil stain, paint coating and fingerprint used in the production of GR2 Titanium Clad Steel Plate for Industry. If these pollutants are not removed before welding, harmful impurities will be dissolved in the weld metal due to the thermal action of the arc during welding, which will have a negative impact on the weld quality. Therefore, pre-welding cleaning is an important part of successful welding of titanium coating. Before welding, the welding wire shall be kept clean and dry. Before use, the oxidized part at the end of the welding wire shall be cut off, and the oxide and grease on the surface shall be removed with abrasive paper and acetone.
5 Titanium coating protection
In order to prevent the titanium coating from being polluted during the welding operation, 1mm stainless steel plate is used to protect the area 25mm away from both sides of the titanium weld, and the whole titanium coating is protected during the base layer welding.
6 Pairs
(1) During assembly, the titanium coating shall be taken as the benchmark, and the misalignment shall not be greater than 1mm. The misalignment must be strictly controlled to prevent the welding quality of titanium coating from being affected due to excessive misalignment.
(2) Tack welds are only allowed on the base metal and should be carried out on the base side. The welding materials used for assembly and positioning must be the same as those used for formal welding.
(3) If the misalignment caused by the crack of tack welding seam exceeds the standard, it must be corrected before welding.
7 Base course welding
(1) Conventional welding process parameters can be used for the weld of carbon steel base. During backing welding, small-diameter welding rod shall be used, and broken arc welding shall be adopted. Single-sided welding and double-sided forming process shall be adopted. The reinforcement of the back weld shall be 0.5~1mm to avoid repairing the backing weld. Large welding rods should be used for filling and capping welding, and the heat input should not be too large during welding. Excessive heat input will cause the titanium coating to be oxidized due to high temperature, or cause problems such as the decrease of the bonding strength of the composite plate interface and interface peeling.
(2) The interlayer temperature shall be controlled below 150 ℃.
(3) During welding and polishing, attention shall be paid to the protection of titanium coating to avoid the contamination of titanium coating by arc welding spatter and polishing spatter.
(4) After the welding of carbon steel base, the weld reinforcement on the back shall be ground smooth.
(5) The tack weld shall be welded in the carbon steel base, and the misalignment shall be less than 1mm.
