4. Physical properties and microstructure of Zirconium
1)Zirconium is a silver rare metal with a melting point of 1850 ℃ and a density of 6.5g/cm3.
2)High activity, may burn in contact with open fire.
3)862 ℃ is the isomorphic and heteromorphic transition temperature of zirconium. Below 862 ℃, it is dense hexagonal lattice and body-centered cubic lattice at high temperatures.
4)Therefore, zirconium as steel for pressure vessels has a dense hexagonal lattice and poor plasticity. Therefore, zirconium materials are generally hot processed, which can improve the plasticity and molding performance of the materials. It is better to control the molding temperature at 500-600 ℃.
5. Because some elements have low solubility in a close-packed hexagonal lattice and are easy to form brittle structures, zirconium should not be directly welded with steel, aluminum, copper, and nickel.
6. Technical requirements and material selection concept of zirconium equipment
Compared with the allowable stress of zirconium, the pressure-bearing capacity of zirconium is limited at high temperatures. Zirconium materials are expensive. The price of imported 702 zirconium is millions/ton, and that of domestic zirconium is hundreds of thousands of yuan/ton. In order to meet the corrosion resistance and pressure bearing capacity and ensure reasonable economy, a zirconium composite plate is mostly selected for large zirconium equipment. Generally, Zr-1 or ZR-3 is used for cladding. Bonding rate: zirconium composite steel plate, the shear strength of the bonding surface shall not be less than 140MPa, and the area bonding rate shall be class A, ≥ 99%. If higher bonding quality is required, an industrial pure titanium plate can be used as the middle interlayer of the composite plate. Heat treatment state: zirconium materials (plates, tubes, forgings, etc.) used for zirconium pressure vessels shall be recrystallized and annealed. Manufacturing: prevent iron ion pollution and galvanic corrosion. Flame heat treatment after welding: temperature 510-620 ℃, thickness ≤ 25mm, thermal insulation ≥ 1H; The thickness increases and the insulation is prolonged. Ultrasonic testing: zirconium plates for pressure bearing with a thickness of more than 6mm shall be subject to ultrasonic monitoring one by one. The plate thickness is 6-25mm, grade A1 is acceptable (diameter of single discontinuous hole ≤ 1.2mm); The plate thickness is 25-50mm, class A is acceptable (diameter of single discontinuous hole ≤ 2mm). Pressure test: zirconium pipes shall be subject to hydraulic (pneumatic) tests one by one. The minimum test pressure P = 2st / D, s is the allowable fiber stress, and the s values of ZR-3 and zr-5 are the yield strength RP0 in the above table respectively 2, the test pressure P shall not exceed 17.2Mpa. Pickling and passivation: after the pressure test, pickling and passivation treatment shall be carried out on the surface of zirconium material. Leakage test: composite plate vessels or pressure vessels lined with zirconium material shall be subject to leakage test (considering that most of them are highly corrosive media). Leak detection mechanism: generally, leak detection structure shall be set between the lining layer and base layer of zirconium lined pressure vessel and between the cladding welding joint and base layer of zirconium clad plate pressure vessel.
