Titanium has very good corrosion resistance in seawater. At present, there are two methods to make titanium used as anti-corrosion materials for marine structures. One is to make composite clad material with titanium thin plate and organic anti-corrosion material; the second method is to use titanium steel clad plate to clad and weld it to the newly built building. As far as the second method is concerned, there are still two problems, one of which is the joining problem of using titanium as a lining. It is not economically valid to use titanium alone as a structure. It is economical to make the main body of the structure with steel only when the corrosion resistance of titanium is fully utilized. However, brittle intermetallic compounds formed by welding titanium directly with iron are also not practical. Only the "titanium-steel clad plate" which uses the integrated hot-rolling process of titanium and steel, welds the steel part of the clad plate to the main body of the steel structure, and then utilizes the corrosion resistance of the composite material titanium. The second issue is the size of the titanium-steel clad plate. In the past, ultra-thin titanium clad steel plates could not be manufactured. When using this material as a lining material, the size and shape of the plate were too thick. Therefore, the continuous hot rolling mill is used when the thin steel plate manufacturing process is adopted, and the coil-shaped titanium composite thin steel plate with a thickness of only 5mm. The joint strength of the composite steel plate is about 150-200MPa, which is slightly higher than the value specified in the Japanese standard JIS-G3603 and is suitable for use as a corrosion-proof material lining material.
